East London Dance announces launch of Dance Enterprise Hub in 2015

East London Dance is proud to announce three-year support from Legacy List to establish a Dance Enterprise Hub for east London.

The Dance Enterprise Hub will offer a transformative programme of skills development, creative incubation for new ideas, start-up funding, and mentoring to enable diverse dance artists and professionals to establish successful creative businesses and/or careers, create innovative new work, and inspire young people about their futures.

The Dance Enterprise Hub will not inhabit just one space but bring together a powerful network of organisations and venues across all sectors, building a collective voice for dance in east London. We will find innovative new ways to share expertise and resources to nurture the talent of the future, whilst growing dance audiences and participants.

We will be capitalising on the growing sharing economy of east London by working with Echo to enable artists and organisations to trade in time and skills, as well as pounds and pence, through a dance-dedicated timebank.

The Dance Enterprise Hub will give artists the skills, contacts and resources they need to make their ideas happen, with particular support for socially-engaged dance enterprise in the fields of health and wellbeing, education, regeneration, and science and technology.

“East London has long been a hotbed for creative dance talent with an entrepreneurial spirit and East London Dance has a 27 year history of nurturing and supporting this. The Dance Enterprise Hub will consolidate all our experience to date, and genuinely place our artists and communities in the driving seat for the future. With the ambitious and exciting new dance developments on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park over the next few years, we look forward to the collaborative opportunities the Dance Enterprise Hub will offer.”
Polly Risbridger, Director, East London Dance
