Rites of Passage – A Windrush celebration

In August 2024, East London Dance was commissioned to produce a performance at the finale of Newham Council’s Rites of Passage Programme.

The programme was designed to honour and celebrate the enduring legacy of the Windrush pioneers. Its main objective being to connect the younger generation to their cultural roots and promote intergenerational exchange.

In this spirit we invited Choreographer Daniel 7 to work with members of our youth company, ELYDC, and our elders’ company, Leap of Faith, on a performance that explored the impact of Windrush.
