Community outreach in The City

East London Dance brings free dance and movement classes to the communities of The City.

Across the summer of 2024 East London Dance hosted a series of free dance and movement classes and events at two City Of London community centres in partnership with City Of London.

For 36 years, east London dance has worked in the community of east London and for us there is really nothing better than having fun and using dance as a way to interact and get to know people.” Kate Scanlan, Joint CEO, East London Dance

As well as weekly classes in Bollywood, Hip Hop, Muay Thai, Salsa, Swing, Yin Yoga and Zumba across 6 weeks we produced two full days at Golden Lane and Portsoken Community centres for all the family, including workshops, wellbeing activities, free food, face painting and games.

“Part of us doing this was really to see how we can engage with all the different communities that live in the local area and how can we find a way to unify all these different community groups.
