Dancing Queen Flashmob at the ABBA Arena

At East London Dance We love a great dance along, so were delighted earlier this summer to be invited to help celebrate the 50^th anniversary of Dancing Queen with a Flashmob outside the ABBA Arena, just around the corner from the Talent House.

“For nearly 40 years, East London Dance has championed the local dance community. At the heart of that mission is connecting people with, and actively involving them in, the very best performance and cultural experiences east London has to offer. That’s why it has been such a fantastic opportunity to work with ABBA Voyage on this wonderful celebration of dance, music and east London culture.” Tia Hassan & Kate Scanlan, Joint Creative Director and CEO, East London Dance

We brought together a crack team of local dance artists to put together a dance routine with an east London twist to perform to the iconic ABBA song, infused with popular dance styles from across our local communities. Vinay Jobanputra brought Bollywood vibes, Erika G gave it some Salsa passion, Dlonze and Aisha added some Afro Dance flavour and Natasha Khamjani fused the whole piece together.

The call went out and over 60 local community dancers joined us on the August bank holiday Monday to surprise the unsuspecting ABBA Voyage audiences with a fun flashmob performance, as they prepared to see the show.

It was a magical celebration of the legacy of ABBA’s music and especially this iconic song and we want to say a huge thank you to the ABBA Voyage team, our choreographers, our producer Fern Crosbie and the local community who made this whole celebration such a fantastic success. We were, quite frankly, having the time of our lives!
