Together We Move (TWM) 

Vote now for our youth-led celebration of creativity, community and connection across Newham.

Our Youth Company has been shortlisted for the chance to lead an incredible community project as part of Newham Council’s £200,000 ‘People Powered Places’ funding pot. If you live, work or study in Newham you can vote to help make it a reality!

Together We Move (TWM) is an exciting youth-led project co-created East London Youth Dance Company (ELYDC) who want to share their passion for dance with friends, families, neighbours—and everyone in Newham. 

Over 10 weeks, ELYDC will create a fun, easy-to-learn TikTok-style dance routine and original music with Newham-based producer Tony Nwachukwu, to perform it to. Inspired by the Hip Hop philosophy “Each One Teach One” everyone will learn the routine, teach it to someone, and encourage them to pass it on—creating a ripple effect across schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods in Newham.  

The project will culminate in a free Friends & Family Day at the Talent House and a mass outdoor flashmob on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park—continuing the legacy of 2012 through a joyful community celebration. 

Along the way, young dancers will receive mentorship from TikTok HQ, developing leadership, choreography, teaching, filming, and editing skills. Together We Move demonstrates how dance can connect generations, boost wellbeing, and inspire local pride. 

Who can vote?

If you live, work or study in Newham you can vote for your favourite 10 favourite projects in one neighbourhood of your choice (we are in ‘Stratford, West Ham & Olympic Park’)!

Voting is open between 1-30 November

• At the Stratford, West Ham & Olympic Park’s Big Vote event on Saturday 1 November, 10-12.30pm at Stratford Library
• Online on Newham CoCreate  (check back here from 1 November to be able to vote)
• By dropping in to Stratford library
