Supporters Circle

In over three decades we’ve had an impact on countless lives, launched many careers and made a lot of friends. Working in one of the UK’s most deprived areas, we’ve seen the transformative effect dance can have.

Each year we reach audiences of at least 54,000; engage over 2,400 people in dance activities, with over 50% coming from ethnically diverse backgrounds; and mentor over 70 artists. We make our resources available to support others to realise their talent and potential.

“In over a decade here, I have been continuously impressed by the spirit, energy
and dynamism of artists and young people in East London. We need and welcome your support to help us do what we do best – offering dance opportunities to those who are least likely to receive them.”
Polly Risbridger, Former Artistic Director & Chief Executive, East London Dance

East London Dance is a charity, and we’re fortunate to be funded as part of the National Portfolio of Arts Council England – that’s a real mark of recognition. But we have to raise over half of our £500,000 turnover each year to achieve our full impact. We need your help to give even more people access to the benefits of dance.

“Your donation means more young people than ever discovering their creativity, more older people breaking down the barriers of poor health and social isolation, more audiences being inspired, and more young artists being empowered through our expanding training and leadership programmes.”
Moira Sinclair, Chair of East London Dance and Chief Executive of Paul Hamlyn Foundation

“From my first encounter with East London Dance’s young artists, I was hooked. Not only were they impressive and determined in their drive to make work, but they were incredibly inspiring as role models. Not just for other young people, but for artists at all stages of their careers, including myself.”
Hofesh Shechter, Choreographer
