East London Dance and University of East London (UEL) have teamed up to support the creation of East London Youth Dance Company.

East London Youth Dance Company (ELYDC) supports the artists of the future; bringing together the best young dancers from all across east London aged 9-19. The company are lead by a series of guest Artistic Directors and meet regularly for weekly training sessions that encompass technique development, performance skills and choreography.

In addition to training and rehearsal ELYDC members create new work with the Artist Team for performance at a range of high profile events. They have the opportunity to train with and learn from the best local, national and international artists working with East London Dance and our partners through masterclasses and projects and receive bespoke mentoring and advice and guidance about progression routes to training and employment, with access to employability seminars.

We are thrilled to have dance artist Sarah Lisney as Artistic Director of the Company for Spring 2022

“East London Dance is delighted to be teaming up with University of East London to launch a brand new East London Youth Dance Company to nurture and celebrate the incredible talent we have here. The appointment of Sara dos Santos as Lead Artist will bring a unique style and ethos to the company - and the array of opportunities on offer to the company over the coming year will really establish the new group as a flagship youth company for east London.”

Polly Risbridger, Director, East London Dance

"When I got offered a place in East London Youth Dance Company I was ecstatic. I was so excited to be amongst others who shared the same passion as me and was willing to work hard to achieve that passion and go further. Every session I push myself to achieve the company goals; and it has been a lot of fun.
I love ELYDC and I count myself very lucky to be involved. What I want to gain from the company is having a better knowledge in Contemporary/Urban styles. I want to keep disciplining myself mentally and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. ELYDC has allowed me to achieve this. Along with striving to reach my goals, I have made the best of friends and I couldn't be happier."
