We are looking for enthusiastic and proactive Studio Volunteers to support our Street Dance Classes at East London Dance.

• Hours: Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, 6pm – 10:30pm 
• Fee: Un-paid
• Basis of Contract: Letter of Agreement

East London Dance (ELD) is committed to supporting and equipping young people to become creative leaders and a voice for social change. We offer a range of activities for that are designed to improve health and well-being, develop dance skills, build confidence and resilience, and provide clear pathways for progression into employment and/or training. Co-design of our programmes by the people whom they are for is at the core of our business plan and DNA.

Purpose of the post 

As a Studio Volunteer you will support the Duty Manager during our Street Dance Class programme at The Talent House. Volunteers will welcome guests and artists into our building from the reception pod, provide assistance and information in a friendly, professional manner and deliver excellent customer service. Other duties include, studio set ups, check-in participants for classes, support East London Dance’s social media and support closing of the building.

Studio Volunteers can take part in Street Dance Classes free of charge once duties have been completed on shift. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Be welcoming and approachable to customers, working alongside ELD staff to ensure the smooth running of all classes.
• Support the Duty Manager with building and class operations, studio set-ups and close downs.
• Check-in participants for classes.
• Support communications by generating social media content.
• Ensure all areas of The Talent House are always presentable.
• Promote ELD membership, classes, events, and hiring of studios.
• Keep up to date on all ELD programme and events.
• Attend training where required.
• Once all duties are completed prior to classes, volunteers can attend the Street Dance Classes free of charge during their shift as agreed with the Duty Manager.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Committed with excellent time management skills
• A good team player who is friendly and proactive
• A self-starter, able to take the initiative and make decisions 

Desirable:

• Knowledge of London’s dance class offer and scene, especially east London’s
• Knowledge of professional dance artists and companies
• DBS checked within 1 year and on the update service
