Navigate is a movement and mental health invention programme delivering in Newham Schools by East London Dance and funded by Compass Wellbeing.
During February half-term we brought Navigate to the Talent House to provide vital support to young people face mental health challenges. The week focused on building dance & movement skills, resilience and raised awareness around mental wellbeing.
The week was co-designed with the young people on the Navigate programmes in schools. Each morning the young people got the chance to learn a new dance styles with professional dance artists including:
- Hip Hop Theatre with Isaac Ouro-Gnao
- Afro Dance with Aisha
- K-Pop Movement with Sunny
- Contemporary with Cherilyn Albert & Instigate Unknown
The afternoons consisted of resilience building and wellbeing sessions. These workshops raised the young people’s knowledge of the 7 Cs of resilience, therapeutic art and exploring coping mechanisms for their own mental wellbeing.
- Resilience Coaching with Nzinga Mascall
- Therapeutic Art with Inside My Art Project
- Mental Heath Awareness with Kooth UK
A huge thank you to our artistic and wellbeing team for providing this vital support.
