OUR HOUSE is an East London Dance programme which hands over creative control of our programming to independent artists and collectives for a week at a time, to make the decisions within our artistic offer and curate activity at our home, the Talent House.

ABOUT THE TAKEOVER:
East London Dance & House of Suraj present: A vibrant celebration of queer resilience, resistance, wellness, and fantasy in East London. Join us for a dynamic week of empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ artists of the global majority, fostering dialogue, nurturing well-being, and celebrating creativity. Enjoy a vast array of workshops, discussions, and events that uplift and connect.
The week culminates with evening performances inspired by Dionysian revelry, nature worship, disco, and unapologetic fluidity promising nights of lavish celebration, sensuality, and healthy escapism—an enchanting sanctuary for London’s LGBTQ+ community. Our goal is to offer our Queer, Trans and Non-binary community a joyful retreat from daily challenges—where they can feel loved, appreciated, and genuinely entertained.

£5 Festival Pass – for Black & Brown Trans and Non-binary artists ONLY, to sign up for as many events as they wish

About Kumari Suraj: Kumari is a non-binary multi-disciplinary artist, choreographer, creative director, designer, 2SLGBTQ+ activist, songwriter and personality. A vibrant mix of West Indian, South Asian, Native American, and European heritage, Kumari’s work reflects their exploration of life and celebration of their cultural background. 2024 Arts Council DYCP grant recipient, named one of Vogue India’s “Top 50 Most Influential Global Indians” (2019). Kumari is an artistic force and cultural game-changer who has influenced the entertainment industry and underground cult communities from Hollywood to Bollywood and beyond.
