As East London Dance approaches its 40th Anniversary we have partnered with London College of Fashion to create an immersive exhibition that explores, shares and celebrates the work we have been doing over the past four decades to support artists, young people and our local communities to claim space across east London.

People are the heart of East London Dance. This immersive exhibition highlights the spaces that exist between the classes, workshops, rehearsals and performances. It is about the people who were there, the personal and professional connections created behind the scenes, those intangible bonds made for life.

Dance has no age limit. Being part of the East London Dance community means being given the space to be yourself, experiment, take creative risks. It’s an opportunity to develop more confidence, to be seen, to have someone to support and champion you and your vision. It is encouragement to take up space, exactly as you are, regardless of your age or experience.

Some memories don’t fade. Through new interviews and archival material ‘Made in East London Dance’ explores how rehearsal and performance clothing retains memories of past movement and lived experience, shaping the history of the organisation.

We invite you to visit this exhibition at the Wolfson Studio, between 2-4 June, immerse yourself in these stories and become part of this vibrant community powered by dance.

The exhibition has been created and curated by MA Fashion Curation and Cultural Programming, UAL: London College of Fashion
