Together We Move – East London Dance

East London Dance is seeking an emerging Black music producer, composer, or recording artist to collaborate on Together We Move (TWM), an exciting youth-led dance project co-created with the East London Youth Dance Company (ELYDC).

About the Project

Together We Move is a community dance initiative inspired by the Hip Hop philosophy “Each One Teach One.”

Over a summer intensive, young dancers will create a fun, accessible TikTok-style dance routine and a series of reels and tutorial videos to teach the choreography to friends, families, neighbours and communities across Newham. Everyone who learns the dance will be encouraged to teach it to someone else, creating a ripple effect through schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods.

The project culminates in a large-scale outdoor flashmob at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as part of the Music is Black Festival on 12 September 2025, celebrating community, creativity, Black culture and the continuing legacy of East London’s Olympic Park.

Along the way, young dancers will receive mentorship from TikTok HQ, developing skills in leadership, choreography, teaching, filming and editing.

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for an emerging Black music producer, composer or artist to create or provide an original track for a community performance piece (approximately 2–3 minutes in length).

Under the artistic direction of Chaldon Williams, the young dancers will train, create and perform across a range of styles including: Hip Hop | Afro Dance | Contemporary | Funk Styles | Jazz | Freestyle

We’re looking for music that will challenge and inspire the dancers while reflecting the energy, diversity and creativity of east London.

Whether you already have unreleased tracks looking for an opportunity to be heard, or you’d like to create something brand new for the project, we’d love to hear from you.

The Fee:

There will be a fee of £750 to include completion of the full 2-3 minute track, a licence for East London Dance to use the track indefinitely without further cost and your availability to join the summer intensive at the Talent House on either 29 or 30 July to refine it in collaboration with the choreographer and young people.

What We’re Looking For:

A track that is:

  • Rooted in Black music culture
  • Energetic, powerful and uplifting
  • Rich in rhythm and musicality
  • Strong bass lines and grooves suitable for choreography
  • Representative of East London’s communities and creative spirit
  • Suitable for a mass community performance and social media sharing

Key Dates:

Application Deadline: Wednesday 22 July 2026, 12noon

Summer Intensive: 27–30 July 2026 (you will need to be available 29 or 30 July to refine the track)
