East London Dance is inviting UK artists to produce a creative response to the theme: SALUTING OUR SISTERS
Black History Month 2023 is a landmark occasion to recognise and applaud the invaluable contributions of black women to British society, inspire future generations, and empower them. We want to hear what this year’s theme, SALUTING OUR SISTERS, means to you, and how you would celebrate it. Perhaps you want to create a performance piece, train or rehearse; maybe you want to host a workshop, write an article, develop your skills or create a film.
This is a small commission and we do not expect there to be a public outcome at the end, unless you would like one. We are inviting you to respond to the theme using the full range of your creative practice. The successful idea will be chosen by East London Dance’s Maren Ellermann and Nzinga Mascall and members of the Brainwaves programme.
